So I love family pictures!!! I love how they turn out... it shows the "true" side of the family! :) Although I would love to have the perfect picture of all of us at the same time I understand that after a few minutes my kids have had it and I am just happy to get them all to hold still for 30 seconds to snap a picture!!

We have been having a grand summer! Kirt started a new job with American Family Insurance, that keeps him busy. We have managed to go camping, see lots of parades and firework shows, and just have fun being together! The girls played softball and loved it! It was so much fun watching them play!! I love my family and all the fun things they do! Wish the fun would never end...

So I have not updated this forever... but things have been a little more than crazy at our house. (If you want to hear the details feel free to keep reading. I totally won't feel bad if you stop cause it could be somewhat long and descriptive..) To start off the year Jake got a horrible case of diarrhea. In the beginning I thought he had caught a stomach flu bug and that was the cause but as the week continued the diarrhea turned mucousy which was not normal and he began to have horrible stomach cramps. It was a Saturday when the cramping got bad so I took him to the instacare in Logan and waited 2 1/2 hours for them to hand me a stool sample bottle and send me on my way... frustrating! So we headed home and 2 hours later he just started screaming because of the pain. Kirt's dad came over and they gave him a blessing. Right after the blessing I changed his diaper and it was bloody. So we rushed him to the ER. They did tests, put in an IV and couldn't find anything wrong. This poor little guy was in so much pain that 2 doses of lortab in an hour did not even touch him. As time is going bye the pain is getting worse and the bloody stools are getting worse. The staff in the ER gave us a few options of what we could do.. #1- admit him for pain control and wait for the stool studies to come back (which is a 4 day period). #2- Send him home and wait for the stool studies to come back. or #3-We could transfer him down to Primary Childrens and see if they could figure out anything more (which they said they probably wouldn't do much more then had already been done in this ER). Kirt and I felt so distraught and new that something more needed to happen. So we told them to send us to Primary Childrens. As I look back I am so grateful that the ER gave him the lortab cause it helped sleep the whole way down to Salt Lake. So we arrived at Primary's and an hour after we got there he prolapsed his intestines (which means his intestines came out his poor little bum). I keep thinking that if we would have taken him home and that happened I would have totally wigged. So after they pushed those back in they took him back to radiology and found that he had an Intussusception (which is when your small intestine telescopes back into the large intestine. They are figuring that with all the diarrhea he had his intestines didn't have anything else to send through and out so it started sending itself.. Isn't that lovely)! They were able to amazingly fix it with an air contrast enema (which is where they put a little tube up is bum and blow air and it pushes the intestine out and back into place.. absolutely amazing to watch). After this was done they admitted him for 3 days to keep and eye on him and make sure it didn't relapse. So right after they admitted him one of his stool studies came back showing he has C Diff (which is a bacterial infection in his intestines which caused the diarrhea in the first place). So we came home on some strong antibiotics and after those where done his C Diff was still there. So then they put him on a stronger medication for 20 days and 2 days after being off of that the diarrhea was back and he once again tested positive for C Diff. So on Monday they put him on something else and on Friday he spiked a high fever and was once again having stomach pain and cramping. We got him to his DR. and they did some testing and a CT scan that showed his colon was very enlarged. They told us that when you have C Diff for so long it can cause what is called Toxic Megacolon (which is where your colon will burst)! So they sent him by ambulance on Friday back down to Primary Children's because they didn't want him there when/if it happened. So we where on complete edge. Once he got down there they admitted him and wanted to keep an eye on him and see what played out. The poor guy kept spiking fevers between 103 and 104 and just seemed to be getting worse. Saturday afternoon we had a lady in our ward call and ask if they could do a ward fast for him on Sunday. Kirt and I were so overwhelmed with people's thoughtfulness and willingness to do this for him. Later that day the wonderful grandparents brought the kids down to see him and when they came his mood totally changed. He was so happy and excited to see his brother and sisters. He then wanted to eat (which he hadn't for 3 days) and started getting down and playing. We even had an episode of jumping on the bed! The Dr. came in and was amazed at the complete turn around that he had done in such little time. He said he had consulted with other dr.s and radiologist and they felt that he did not have the Toxic Megacolon and had probably picked up a virus that was in there fighting with the bacterial infection and just giving him heck! So they sent him home late Saturday night and we got home at about 12:30 Sunday morning. Ever since we have been home he has continued to do much better. He still runs fevers here and there, and we are still fighting the C Diff, but collectively he is doing so much better. We hope and pray that this round of antibiotics he is on will be the last and we won't have to worry about the C Diff again and have our happy and healthy little 3 year old back!
Kirt and I are so grateful for everyone who has kept him in their prayers and fasted for him. I am so thankful for wonderful priesthood blessings, promptings from the spirit and the gospel in my life to help us through such hard times. I don't know if my sweet boy would even be here if it weren't for the spiritual direction we have recieved. Our family, friends, and ward are the best ever and I don't know how I can thank my Heavenly Father, Savior, and the people we love enough for all they have done and still do for us and little Jake. How truly blessed we are. And with all the prayers, fasting, and blessings I know Jake will be completely healthy soon.. he is well on his way! So there is the long of it..

The Big Update...

Well, there is nothing really big to update you on, I just haven't posted anything for 6 months so I felt I should atleast say something!!! We have had a wonderful Christmas and are so grateful for the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. We were so blessed by so many wonderful people around us. I don't think you could ask for a better neighborhood and ward to live in. Kaitlyn was thrilled to get a doll that looks like her, Shaylee got a Taylor Swift barbie that she absolutely loves, Jake got a Semi, and Nathan got an airplane and his first tooth! Among many other wonderful gifts from family and friends!!! We were a little disapointed that we didn't have a white Christmas this year... But we are making up for it today with over a foot of fresh, beautiful, white snow that we can go out and play in!!!! Kirt and I are staying busy with work and trying to keep up with these very energetic kids!!! Little Nathan is 8 months old and as cute as ever! He is army crawling everywhere and loves undoing the Christmas tree! He very intently watches his siblings and I am scared to see in the future what he has learned. Jake is full of new phrases and vocabulary! His latest this week is "what an idiot" (just lovely I know)and "what a joke." He has also picked up that if you pull his finger...a fart comes out! ;) That makes mom really happy!!! Shaylee is doing so well in Kindergarten! She loves going to school and learning. She is starting to read and does so well! She is the family tease and is always looking for someone to poke :)! Kaitlyn is also doing wonderful in school and loves the second grade! It is so fun having her read. Jake is constantly going up to her and saying "Kaitlyn, read me this book!" She is a social butterfly and is constantly making new friends!! She won the 1 mile race (turkey trot) at school this year! Her grand prize... a Turkey!! To eat that is! Shaylee's class had a drawing that day as well and she won... a Turkey!! So I am sure you can tell what has been on our menu and the McKee home! We feel so blessed with everything we have been given and especially our good health! We are sad to see 2010 go but excited for a New Year to make many more memories!

So my handsome little brother had a BIG month! He got his mission call to Boston and then graduated highschool a few weeks later! We are so proud of him for graduating! In highschool he learned that he has a wonderful talent...art! His art teacher submitted one of his paintings to an art show at USU without him knowing and he got a phone call from a lady asking if she could buy it! He does such an amazing job! And then we are so excited about his mission! He is such a good kid and I feel so greatful to call him my brother!!

Our little Nathan is finally here! He came Tuesday, April 27th, at 11:17 at night. He weighed 8 lbs. 2 oz. and is 20 1/2 inches long. He is the sweetest baby and his brother and sisters love him so much. Is there such thing as too much help? They are so cute and want to be involved with everything. I am so greatful that all went well and my kids are all healthy. What a blessing.

Wow, I am horrible at updating this blog of mine! So it has been a few months.... We found out we are having another little boy!! Kirt and I had decided that we did not want to find out what we were having (since we finally have one of each)! The ultrasound day came and the Tech asked while walking down the hall if we wanted to find out, I looked at Kirt and could just tell that he was dying to know so we said yes. Well they started the ultrasound and the first picture that came up on the screen was this little man's exterior plumbing. So, even if we had stuck with the plan and said "no we don't want to find out," there was no way of not knowing. We are so excited to be having a little boy! And Jake just loves his baby brother already! He will come up and lay his head on my stomach and talk to him. The other day he told him "baby brother, hurry, shoot basketball, hurry!" When Jake feels the baby moving he thinks he is giving him "five." The first time this happened Jake was so excited that he looked up with this huge smile and said "baby brother give me five!" He then made a fist and punched me in the stomach and I said "Jake, what are you doing?" He replied "baby brother knuckles!" I had to tell him that no baby brother can only give five right now! I absolutely love it and I'm so excited for the bond these two will have!

While on the subject of Jake he just turned 2 the first of the month! I can not believe how fast time goes by. This little guy is so much fun and I am so thankful that he is in our lives! He is so sweet and tender-hearted (much to his father's dismay) but we wouldn't change a thing about him! He loves basketball (go figure)! Every morning when he wakes up he goes in and shoots the basketball, and I dare say he spends 1/2 his day shooting things into the basketball hoop. At night when we are trying to get him to go to bed he cries "shoot basketball, shoot basketball." Many nights he even sleeps with his basketball, so this thrills his dad more than anything! He loves to read books, play trains, and watch Dinosaur Train and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! He is so fun and we love every minute with him!

The girls are busy with school and just being girls! They help around the house so much and are so fun to be around! Some days I don't understand how they can be so emotional, but what would girls be without emotion, right?! Shaylee has had the most off the wall questions lately like "Mom, did Heavenly Father make our bones with dinosaur bones?" Um, no... She is so funny and I just love listening to her talk! Kaitlyn comes home everyday from school soaked from the waste down. It is an absolute joke. I think that the puddles at recess have a magnetic pull towards her and she can not stay out of them. You can actually dump water out of her boots when she gets home. So I am praying Spring will get here soon so she can start coming home dry!

I got butterflies reading it and started reading it again as soon as I was done! Great book! Just thought I would make the suggestion!

I can't believe my Baby Shay is 4. It makes me so sad to see her growing up so fast. She is so much fun. She wanted a "Fireworks Birthday," so we did fireworks at home and she loved it. Most of her cousins, Aunts & Uncles, and Grandma's and Grandpa's were there! We are so greatful for their love and support! Love you Shaylee!

These are a few of my favorite pictures of our St. George trip. So, I am a little late posting it but better late then never! We went in April with my family and we had so much fun. It was nice to get away! Kaitlyn found "pet snails" at the condo. All she wanted to do was stay there and play with them. It was so gross, she came to the patio door and had them crawling all up and down her arms. She even had one on her neck! Gross....sometimes I wonder if she is really my child?!

Hide and Go Seek!

This is the most hillarious thing ever (atleast Kirt and I thought so)! The kids love to play hide and go seek, so we play as a family quite frequently. We usually have to help Shaylee hide because she just has a hard time finding a good spot. Well it was Kirt's turn to count and she wanted to hide herself. Well, Kirt found me under the kitchen table and was about busting a gut when he told me to come and see where Shay had hidden. We will let the picture tell the story...... Yep you saw right. She was hidding behind the clear shower curtain standing in the middle of the bathroom floor. And the thing is, she was dead serious about it. We kept walking back and forth in front of the bathroom door and she was frozen, staring off in the distance. I don't think Kirt and I have laughed that hard for a long time.

So I have a curse (atleast I figure it is a curse cause I can't figure out what else is wrong with me)! When I go shopping I ALWAYS get the crappy broken down shopping cart! It bothers me so bad that finally when I walk into a store I take time to scope out the carts to see which one looks the best and after I make my decision I start down the isle of the store and what do you know, it's crap! And on the rare occasions that I have a cart that functions properly the seat belt is broken so my poor child risks a skull fracture every 10 minutes while we are shopping. I really don't understand. When you go shopping with three children, one who can't stay sitting, the other sliding on her knees down the isle, and the other (no joke) on top of the shelves because she thought that they looked like fun to climb, all I need is a cart that takes an army of men to turn, or a broken wheel, or one that squeeks so loud your kids feel that it is competition to be louder than it, to draw more attention to our little circus! I honestly hate going grocery shopping for fact that I have to use a cart! On the positive side, atleast they are free to use because in Canada it costs $1.00 to use a cart and do you know how upset I would be to have to pay a buck to get a crappy cart and inflict grocery shopping pain?

I feel so old! I have a 6 year old! Kaitlyn wanted a birthday party this year and so we let her invite some friends! She had a butterfly/bug party and it turned our really cute. She has also begged and begged for a pinata! They had so much fun with it. I the middle of the party Shaylee threw up (ofcourse it can not be uneventful, not that 10, 6 year olds weren't enough :) )! So I ran in the bathroom to clean her up and decided to throw in some rolls of toilet paper so they could wrap each other up like cocoons. They loved it and I now have a huge bag of T.P. to use! Kaitlyn had such a wonderful birthday, and was spoiled rotten! Thanks to all of our family and friends that came to celebrate with us! We love you Kaitlyn!

Shaylee's Finger :(

We were at the grocery store doing so major shopping and we had come out to the car. Shaylee opened her car door and pinched her finger between her door and the SUV next to us. It made a huge blood blister and it blew out the top of her finger and she started to bleed everywhere. At the same time I was taking Jake out of the shopping cart and he had wet through his clothes (I ofcourse did not have his diaper bag or spare clothes), and Kaitlyn is screaming at the top of her lungs "She is going to die, Mom, Shaylee is dying!" Oh, and there was a full grocery cart and none of the kids were hooked in! So yah, I took a deep breath, stuck Jake in the car, wrapped Shaylee's finger up with something, told Kaitlyn to calm down and get in the car, and found a way sweet girl to help me unload my groceries. We were then off to the hospital for stitches. Mind you that the whole way Kaitlyn is crying and screaming that Shaylee's going to die which really calmed Shaylee down. I tried to call Kirt so he could meet me because I wasn't excited to juggle my 3 children who where having their own personal disasters, on my own. So Kirt met me, took Jake home and changed him, and came back to help hold Shaylee down during her stitches. It was one dramatic day to say the least! Shay's finger is now much better, thank goodness, because I had gone through 2 boxes of bandaides in 1 week.

We are so proud of Kaitlyn. She made this picture of her climbing her favorite tree and turned it in for the reflections contest. The theme was "Wow"... and she titled her picture "Wow, look how high I can climb!" She was in the primary level, which is K-2nd grade, and won out of the the Northern Box Elder County District which included 7 schools! We are so excited for her! Good Job Kaitlyn!!!

I can not believe that my little baby turned 1! (His birthday was Feb. 6th, I am a little behind)! He got this way cute car from Grandma and Grandpa Miller that him and Landon love riding in together! I think I way under-did his birthday but it was fun and our families are so wonderful to come and celebrate with us! Me sweet neighbor made him his birthday cake and she did a wonderful job on it, Thanks Libby! We are so greatful to have this little man in our family! We are so blessed!

Catch Up!

Well, I am so sorry that I have not blogged for about 2 months! Life has been absolutely crazy! We had a wonderful Christmas. I can not believe it has come and is long gone. We had someone do the 12 days of Christmas for us and it was so much fun watching the kids get so excited for when they came. So thank you so much to whoever it was, it made our Christmas special! I just got a new job at the Hospital in Tremonton. I am so excited to be working there. I will only have to work 2, 12 hour shifts a week instead of 3, 8 hour, which is wonderful, and I get insurance, tuition rembursement, and an extra night with my family! So I am hoping I can go back to school this fall and finish my nursing. Kaitlyn got plowed over at one of Kirts games. A player dove for a stray ball and ran right into Kaitlyn. She hit her head really hard on the gym floor. We got her home and she started acting "loopy", which concerned us, and then she started throwing up. So we had to take her to the ER. They did a CT scan to check for a skull fracture and bleeds on her brain, but everything looked okay. They said she suffered a concussion and that we needed to keep her home and relatively unactive for a few days (yah right)! Greatfully she is doing a lot better. Jake started walking and is everywhere and into everything. The easy baby days are over. I can't believe that he is going to be 1 next week. Time flies by. Shaylee is so sweet, yet she is the biggest stinker. One morning while I was trying to catch a few minutes of sleep she decided to color my house blue with 2 blue markers. I has been lots of fun finding all the little places that she has colored on and trying to scrub it off. And last but not least Kirt is the most wonderful husband! For my birthday he took me on a suprise date. First off he arranged for a babysitter (thanks mom)! He took me out to dinner and suprised me by taking me to the Alaskan Inn up Ogden Canyon for the night. He had reserved our own cabin and when I walked in the door, on the table was a beautiful bouqet of flowers, a bag of truffles, a plate of chocolate dipped strawberries, sparkling cider on ice, and a gift certificate for a full body massage. He went totally overboard and spoiled me rotten! I love him so much and I'm so greatful for all he does for me! Well, now you you've been caught up on the McKee life!

We absolutely love it when Aunt Cindy and Tayler come to see us! It is always the highlight of our year! They live in Arizona and we wish they lived a lot closer because we miss them terribly when they are gone! Jake just loved giving Cindy cuddles and we can't believe how much Tayler is growing! She is a beautiful young lady and we love her so much! We miss them and hope to see them soon!!

Traditions?!

So, I know these pumpkin pancakes have nothing to do with the Christmas season except they are a way fun Halloween tradition that my Mom started when we were kids. Halloween morning she would get up and make us pumpkin pancakes. I absolutely loved it and now I do them every Halloween for my family.

I am on the hunt for fun Christmas traditions, no matter how small, to start with my family. I love traditions and look forward to them. So please help me by telling me some of your fun family traditions! I would love to get some ideas! Thanks!

I just wanted my husband to know that I love him so much! I am so thankful for the wonderful marriage that we have and for all that he does for me! I can't believe that we have been married for 7 years! Time flies so fast. Just a fun little fact about our wedding date; Kirt and I went out on our first date (blind date) on November 24, 2000. We got married November 24, 2001, exactly one year to the date that we met. Kind of fun and easy to remember! Thank you Uncle Kerry and Aunt Mel for setting us up! You truly are great matchmakers! I love you Kirt and thanks for all you do for our family!

Well, this is a little difficult for me because you all will find out what a freak I am. It would probably be titled better "My 7 OCDs!" Well, here we go:

1. All the light switches have to be facing the same direction (up or down)
Yes, I go through the house and make frequent checks to make sure all of my light switches are going the same direction. Kirt knows that this absolutely drives me nuts so when he was remodeling the house he made sure that on one light switch panel, with three switches, that they couldn't all be facing one way. It absolutely drives me nuts!

2. Dresser drawers must be closed at all times with no clothes hanging out. So at night before I go to bed I have to make my rounds to all the rooms and make sure that all the dresser drawers are shut and all the clothes tucked in. I think this started when I was 12. I left my drawer open and when I went to get clothes there was a gigantic spider in my drawer. So I figure if everything is shut nothing will get in, pluse it looks neater.

3. I can't stand to wear socks.My toes must be able to breath and move at all times. Socks suffocate and inable the toes to wiggle and move.

4. I hate the dark.I have night lights in all my rooms. Childish, I know! But I can't stand not being able to see at all times.

5. I hate to be alone.I can't stand being alone. And with 3 children I really am not ever alone, but alone without adult company. So when Kirt works at night I like to call people to try to keep me company. This is sad to admit but it is true.

6. I kick butt at burping. I love to burp. I can out burp most people I know, except my mom. She is the one that taught me!!

7. My dishes have to be done before I go to bed.I can not stand waking up to a dirty kitchen. It is a bad way to start off my day and I hate a dirty kitchen.

Is that Grandpa McKee?

It was so funny, at the Pumpkin Walk today the kids saw this "tall man" and said, "Wow, he is tall like Grandpa McKee!" I must say, we do have a very tall Grandpa, but his height is just a small comparison of what a great man he is! We love him so much and are so greatful he is in our lives!

We went to the Pumpkin Walk in North Logan today with my Mom, Amber and her kids, and all my little ones. It was so fun. It has always been a family tradition to go every fall. The kids love seeing the different pumpkins and ecspecially putting there heads in the paintings of the characters bodies. We always get a good laugh at how pickin cute they are!

Wheelbarrow Full of Princesses

Last Saturday Kirt was outside doing yard work and I had looked out to see how things were coming along. When I opened the door I could hear cute little laughter and walked out to investigate what was happening. When I walked around the corner I found a Wheelbarrow full of princesses! They were having so much fun. We are so lucky and grateful to have such a fun Dad that does fun things with us!

Slushy Walks

Well if there is one thing that we have done consistantly over the summer it has been our slushy walks. We have been blessed to have the best sno shack in the valley right down the street from us. On special days (2-3 times a week) the kids put on all their bike gear and they ride their bikes down and Jake and I follow, and we go get us a slushy! It has been so fun! It will be one thing that will be greatly missed when our summer is over!

Kaitlyn's first day of school

Wow, I'm old! I can't believe I already have a kid in school! Kaitlyn was so excited to go to school and the first week has been an adventure! On Monday we had family home evening and talked about strangers, not going with people we don't know, and not letting people touch us, ect. . So I picked her up from school on Tuesday and asked her how her day was and this was her reply;

Mom: "how was school today?"

Kaitlyn: "nothing happened."

Mom: "what do you mean nothing happened?"

Kaitlyn: "I saw no strangers, no tried to kidnap me, no one tried to touch me, (and with a shrug of the shoulders), hum maybe it will happen tomarrow."

NO, we don't want it to happen tomarrow, or ever, crazy kid! I just don't know what I am going to do with her!

My Very First Post!

Well I've been feeling left out of the blog world, so Amber talked me into starting one. For my very first post I thought that I would tell you about our 9 day camping trip to Cedar City!! Every year we go down with Nicole's in-law family to Cedar for the bow hunt. Kirt is so sweet and wants his family there with him, so we all packed up and went camping. Kirt outfitted the whole family with camo and the kids looked so cute! While we were up there we took the kids fishing and Kaitlyn and Shaylee caught their very first fish! It was so much fun. We are not looking forward to getting back to everyday life but we enjoyed our time together!
